Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced that Turkey has taken a new step in nuclear energy by launching the “Call for Domestic Nuclear Reactor Development.”

In a post on his social media account, Minister Kacır emphasized that the National Technology Initiative aims to meet high energy demands—from artificial intelligence to defense, chemistry to steel—through domestic, carbon-free, and uninterrupted solutions. He stated:

“With the ‘Call for Domestic Nuclear Reactor Development’ we have launched, our goal is to bring high-tech reactors to our country using the domestic production capabilities of Turkish industry, with contributions from TENMAK and TÜBİTAK institutes as well as our universities. These reactors will strengthen our energy security, reduce external dependency, and contribute to our net zero emission targets. Turkey is paving its own way in nuclear energy technologies, reinforcing its independence and power.”

Applications for the call can be submitted via http://rip.sanayi.gov.tr until December 31, 2025.
